STUDIO WORKDASHBOARDS

Dashboards that show what matters, and what to do about it.

A good dashboard answers the questions people actually ask — how are we doing, what has changed, what needs attention — without anyone having to build a report first.

OVERVIEW

What a useful dashboard is.

Most dashboards fail in the same ways: too many numbers, no comparison to show whether a figure is good or bad, and colours without reasons. People look once and go back to asking for spreadsheets.

We start with the decisions the dashboard should support, choose the few measures that inform them, and design every chart to make one point clearly. Then we connect it to the data, so it stays current.

WHEN IT FITS

You might need this when…

  • Someone spends hours each week assembling the same report by hand
  • Different teams quote different numbers for the same thing
  • Leaders find out about problems too late
  • The data exists in your systems but nobody can see it in one place
  • Existing reports are long, but nobody reads beyond the first page
  • You want customers or partners to see their own figures

WHAT IT INVOLVES

What it typically includes.

  • MEASURES

    The right measures

A short, agreed set of measures, each with a definition, target and owner.

  • DATA

    Data connections

Data drawn from the systems and spreadsheets you already use, refreshed automatically.

  • DESIGN

    Clear visual design

Charts chosen for the question they answer, with comparisons and plain-English labels.

  • ATTENTION

    Thresholds and alerts

What counts as on track, at risk or off track — and who hears about it.

  • DETAIL

    Drill-down

A path from the headline figure to the detail behind it, when someone needs it.

  • ACCESS

    Access by role

The right view for each audience, from executives to front-line teams.

HOW IT COMES TOGETHER

Start with the problem. Build the right thing.

  1. 01

    UNDERSTAND

The decisions the dashboard supports, who uses it and where the data lives.

  2. 02

    DESIGN

Measures defined and screens designed before any data work begins.

  3. 03

    BUILD

Data connected, calculations checked against known figures, screens built.

  4. 04

    REFINE

Reviewed with the people who use it, figures reconciled, and handed over.

GOOD TO KNOW

How Studio projects work.

Every Studio project is scoped and quoted individually, once we understand what is needed.

Scope, timings, ownership, hosting and any ongoing support are agreed in writing before work begins.

If a ready-made product or a tool you already own is the better answer, we will say so.
